Synopsis
After their parents are murdered, the Bielski brothers flee into the Belarusian forests and organize a partisan community that grows to shelter over a thousand Jewish refugees. Battling starvation, German patrols, and internal conflict, they fight to keep their community alive through years of occupation.
Historical Context
The Bielski partisans were one of the largest Jewish resistance and rescue operations of the Holocaust, surviving in the forests of German-occupied Belarus and ultimately saving over 1,200 people. Tuvia Bielski's leadership prioritized rescue alongside armed resistance against German forces.
