Synopsis

A group of US Army nurses serves under increasingly desperate conditions during the Japanese invasion of the Philippines, tending to wounded soldiers through the retreat to Bataan and Corregidor. The film culminates in their harrowing evacuation as the islands fall.

Historical Context

US Army and Navy nurses served through the fall of the Philippines in 1941–1942, enduring the siege of Corregidor before many were evacuated or, in some cases, captured and interned by the Japanese.

Historical Accuracy

Loosely based on accounts of real Army nurses who served in the Philippines, though characters and specific events are fictionalized composites.
